Admission to doctoral programmes at St Petersburg University announced

On 15 April 2022, St Petersburg University published information about admission to doctoral programmes for the academic year 2022/23. This is pursuant to Procedures for Admission to Doctoral Programmes approved by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

According to the Regulations for Admission, information on admission for the 2023/24 academic year and subsequent academic years will be posted by 1 November of the year preceding the year of admission.
Based on the Federal law of 29.12.2012 № 273-FZ "On education in the Russian Federation", postgraduate education is provided in the areas of specialisation, in which academic degrees are awarded. The purpose of studies is the preparation and defence of a candidate dissertation by a doctoral student.
For the academic year 2022/23, St Petersburg University has announced admission to 147 areas of specialisation.
From 1 June, applicants will be able to submit their documents online via their personal account on the website of the University.
The application deadline is 6pm on 27 July (Moscow time). More than 400 government-funded places have been allocated for doctoral programmes.
Applicants are admitted to most doctoral programmes based on submitted documents (portfolio competition). The results of international language assessment may count as the entrance test in the subject "Foreign Language". For a number of doctoral programmes, the entrance tests will be conducted in the written or oral-written form.
A complete list of areas of specialisation announced for the academic year 2022/23 is available on the Admissions Committee website in the Doctoral programmes section. In addition to admission test points, applicants are also awarded points for achievements in intellectual contests and certificates for mastering online courses at St Petersburg University. It is possible to receive additional points if the result of the first entrance test is at least 65 points according to the priority of entrance tests established by the Admissions Committee.
