St Petersburg University international students grow their talents and explore new interests at the University

Extracurricular activities are the vital part of the students’ experience, complementing studies and creating opportunities for friendly environment and self-discovery. SPbU offers a wide range of extracurricular activities for international community of the University.
Over the past year, SPbU held the International Tournament in Natural Sciences, the "Univision" song contest, the 21st International Student Law Conference (iSLaCo) that brought together Russian and foreign students and researchers.
Traditionally, St Petersburg University holds series of activities "Week of the Foreign Students Club" for foreign citizens studying at the University. The events organised by the Foreign Students Club has earned sympathy of foreign audience, and became one of the most anticipated among international community of SPbU. This year participants of the series of activities visited dog shelter "Friend", where they had an opportunity to meet and help shelter’s workers. International students also played in the Intellectual game "What? Where? When?" organised by the Foreign Students Club of SPbU, shared their photos at the exhibition "The Life of Others" and took part in the "Peoples Friendship" concert. During the concert, students from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and China presented their talents in playing instruments, singing and dancing in a friendly atmosphere. The series of activities ended with mini-football championship "CUP of the Foreign Students Club", when the players showed an excellent teamwork and will to win.
In the spring Russian and foreign students gathered together to celebrate Nowruz in online format. Nowruz is celebrated on the day of the vernal equinox, and literally means the "holiday of a new day". Participants from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan discussed history of the Nowruz, its traditions, folk dances and national instruments.
International students engaged in extracurricular activities not only as participants but also as event organisers. For example, this year Serbian students have initiated to hold Easter celebration. During it, people of diverse cultures discussed different Easter and national traditions, tasted Easter bread and coloured eggs.
