Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism at St Petersburg State University.

Born in 1959 in Petrozavodsk.

In 2001 he started working in the journalism department of St Petersburg State University. He has developed a special seminar titled "Screenwriting for Television". He gives lectures and workshops on specialist subjects, and directs thesis work. As a researcher he specialises in the study of screen documentary and screenplay journalism. He is the author of several textbooks; and has published more than 30 scientific papers for party scientific conferences on philology and journalism.

He has been a journalist since 1992. He graduated from the Internews School of Journalism; trained in the USA, the UK and Sweden; he was the editor of the “Nika” TV Company and the news agency Mega-press. After moving to St. Petersburg he was a correspondent of the Agency for Journalistic Investigations, and editor of the magazine "Gorod." He is the literary reporter for a number of publications; and has written scripts for more than 20 documentaries. He has been both the nominee and winner of professional competitions; and is a Member of the Russian Union of Journalists.
